Tom London (1889-1963)
Il bat tous les records : 646 apparitions dans des films, séries, téléfilms, pas moins ! Comme Ward Bond ou Ben Johnson, une vraie tronche de western, on l’imaginerait bien dans la palette des seconds rôles de Sam Peckinpah, et à la voir tirer des coups de feu dans la Sierra, mais sa carrière s’arrête à la fin du western classique, année de sa mort : 1963. Il était excellent cavalier, et joua dans nombre de séries B, il était le sidekick de Sunset Carson, après des débuts à l’Universal dans les années 1920. On le voit souvent dans des rôles de cow-boy hommes de main, de membre de la Police montée, de shérif… Pour une fois, je ne mets pas de lien sur les titres de ses films… car sinon il y aurait du boulot !

Western de série au rythme assez lent doublé d’une enquête policière, un gabarit dans lequel Richard Bartlett repecte toutes les règles, trop peut-être pour susciter l’intérêt, on a l’impresssion d’avoir vu cette histoire déjà mille fois sur grand écran. Belle chanson générique par Jimmy Wakely…
