Westerns « Grand Nord » et Wilderness – Northerns – westerns enneigés
Les ‘Northerns’ sont des westerns, parfois inspirés des écrits de Rex Beach ou Zane Grey, Jack London ou encore James Oliver Curwood, dont l’action se déroule généralement dans le grand Nord canadien et en Alaska, ils mettent souvent en scène la Police montée canadienne. De,nombreux réalisateurs -William Wellman, William Witney, Anthony Mann- se sont essayés, avec succès, au genre, qui nécessite des tournages difficiles en extérieurs. Liste non exhaustive.
